We collect only what you send us.
What we do not collect
No email, no phone number, no account. We do not collect your name, your contacts, or your browsing history.
We use no advertising trackers and sell no data, because there is nothing here to sell.
Your location
Location permission is asked for once, on the first visit. If you allow it, your position is found each time you open the app so the times follow you when you travel, and it is also read when you press the qibla button or “Use my location”. In all of this it never leaves your device: the calculation happens inside your browser.
On iPhone, motion access is requested when you press the qibla button so the needle can turn; nothing from it is sent anywhere.
The city table is written into the app itself, so nobody is asked where you are and nothing is inferred from your IP address.
Decline, and the app stays on Bahrain and does not ask again. The city you pick is stored on your device alone.
What is stored on your device
Your city, your precise coordinates if you allow location, your reading position, the app language and theme, the Qur’an font size and page colour, your card choices, your name for Eid greetings if you type one, your tasbih count, a random device number created the first time you send a note, a copy of the Qur’an and its commentary, and the app’s own files.
All of it lives in your browser (local storage and the app cache) and never reaches us. Clearing site data erases it.
In the Khushoo phone app, your adhan settings (the muezzin and each prayer’s mode) and the scheduled adhan notifications are kept and scheduled on your device only, and never reach us. Notification permission is asked only when you turn the adhan on.
Your notes, if you send one
The app has two ways to write to us: “A note or a mistake? Write to us” and “Report a mistake in this verse”. If you write there and tap Send, we receive what you wrote and its type (a mistake in a verse or tafsir, something not working, a suggestion, other), the verse reference if you sent it from a verse, and the app language.
With it goes a random number the app creates on your device the first time you send a note, used only so our replies come back to you in the app. It does not reveal your name, email or location, and we ask for none of them.
Notes are stored on our server and read by the Khushoo team to fix things and reply. They are not shared with anyone or used for anything else. The daily count is kept per device and per IP address as a limit against flooding.
None of this happens unless you tap Send. After your first note, opening the message window fetches our replies using your random device number alone. To delete what you sent, write to us from the same place.
What is fetched from elsewhere
In the app: the Qur’an, tafsir, translation and transliteration files, the fonts and the libraries, all from our own domain, not from outside servers. Khushoo’s pages on the JAZIPLACE site load some fonts from a public font service.
If you search for your area by name on the maps, the word you typed is sent to OpenStreetMap, together with the name of your current country in the app to narrow the search, not your coordinates. That happens only when you tap it.
These, like any request on the internet, are visible to their providers.
